Plant House is a renovation of two bungalows into a guest house, and is located in Houston’s East End in the 2nd Ward. It is part of a group of six existing bungalows that were relocated to the block to form a small community that includes an adjacent brick firehouse. Ben Rosenblum Studio served as construction manager and architect during the later part of construction, designing and managing interior and exterior details and construction. The project includes new kitchens, bathrooms, and guest rooms, and retains many of the unique and historic details of the original bungalows including interior walls of refinished wood boards. A new wood deck between the bungalows serves as a central space and bridges the bungalows together.
